Inside, you get a carbon fiber element in a sealed quartz tube, producing medium-wave infrared that feels even and gentle—no harsh glare. The units are rated for 120V or 240V, so they plug into a standard outdoor outlet (or go hardwired where code allows). Output is 1,500W or 2,000W of radiant heat, depending on the model. A built-in thermostat holds the set temperature, and tip-over protection shuts the heater off if it gets bumped. For outdoor duty, the IP rating keeps moisture and dust out, and the slim profile keeps the look clean.

The things you actually need to plan for

Plan for a sheltered mounting spot, or add side screens to shield the seating area. Installation needs a solid wall and proper electrical support—use a qualified electrician to make sure the circuit and box meet local outdoor code. Clearance matters, too.
