
Why We Build Our IP55 Table Heaters in Modules
Let’s be honest: heating elements are basically consumables. They’re going to burn out eventually. It’s just how they work. Now, imagine it’s five years down the line and a tube pops. If you’re dealing with a waterproof IP55 unit, the last thing you want is to rip the entire chassis apart or risk ruining a watertight seal just to swap out one dead part. That’s a nightmare. That’s why we don’t build these as one solid block. We use a modular setup.
The “Swap and Go” Logic
Here is how we handle it: we keep the heating core and the waterproof housing separate. Instead of soldering the lamps directly into the main circuit—which is a pain to undo—we use quick-connect interfaces. It makes the process incredibly simple. You just slide out the broken infrared module and drop in a fresh one. No rewiring the control box, no headache. You aren’t tearing down a whole system anymore. You’re just swapping a part. It turns a project that could take hours into something that takes a few minutes.
Keeping the Water Out
Of course, the tricky part is the seal. Every time you create a way to get into the machine, you’re creating a way for water to get in. To stop that, we use compression gaskets and threaded cable glands. It keeps the dust out and stops low-pressure water jets from ruining your electronics. The best part? You don’t have to spend an hour meticulously rebuilding the seal. The modular frame just locks into place and squishes the gaskets down automatically. It just works.
The Trade-off
Now, nothing is perfect. Using connectors instead of direct solder joints does add a tiny bit of contact resistance. In high-wattage setups, that can cause a bit of heat to build up right at the plug. Because of that, you’ve got to make sure your terminal blocks are rated for the actual current load. You don’t want your housing melting because you used a cheap connector. But for us, it’s a fair trade. Replacing a plug is cheap. Paying a technician to tear apart and rebuild an entire integrated heater? That’s where the real cost is.
